This last weekend we were able to go to a marriage retreat in Bad Kissingen Germany. After a 4 hr bus ride(with the kids) we arrived at a four star German hotel. We check in and first thing the kids want to do is go swimming, of coarse. So we quickly change because we only have a few hours til Trav and I had to be to our first meeting, rush down to the pool, splash around for an hour and head back to the room. Time for a shower.... or so I thought. We have no hot water!!!!!! Great, so I washed my hair in ice cold water. Burrrrr. After I defrosted.... we were able to get down to buisness. It was actually really great. I think we walked away from the retreat with a few good ideas on how to make our marriage one that will stand the test of time, and maybe even add another little oscarson to the journey.
Bad Kissingen is a very small town with very few attractions. The chaplains planned it this way so we would have no choice but to give him our full attention. The few attractions we did get to see (outside of our classes) were the castle ruins 2 mins away, and a very old monistary which is said to have the worlds best beer? Funny that a bunch of very religious men sit around and make beer all day huh!!! We only had a 1/2 hour to check it out so we didnt see much.
The last night we were there we went swimming, again. This time was a lot more memorable. My little dare devil decided not to wait for mom and dad and slipped into the pool. Thankfully there was a woman within a few feet of where he was practically drowning and pulled him out. He came out choking and crying, and all I could do at first was scold him and say "what were you thinking!" It scared the crap out of me! After that we decided it would be a good idea to teach the kids how to float.
